Sunday was much better with Hobbs (River and Jasper's littermate) winning Best of Breed over the #1 Swissy in the country - he was owner-handled, which is an even bigger statement! Way to go Hobbs and Melissa! The judge also really liked Mischke, and she may have won the major if she hadn't been so very concerned about the judge's cane. She won reserve. So, I will be using the broom handle as a cane in the house until she gets over it. Socialization never ends!
It was a bittersweet weekend, as we sent Ferris off to his new family. Ferris will be living with Robbie and Mike Diffey and their beautiful Swissy Darby. When he's ready to show, I'll be showing him and will potentially breed him down the road if he gets his health clearances once he's old enough. We miss him - but we know he's doing great, and his new family loves him to pieces - he and Darby are already best friends, and Mike has a new nickname for Ferris - "Smudgekin" - hah! Here are some pictures from the weekend and some recent pictures of Ferris in his new home. Hard to believe he's already five months old!
River has a little over two weeks to go before the puppies arrive. She's doing great - very active and playful. Eating everything in sight, but not getting very big. I still think it will be a small litter, but we'll find out for sure around April 8th.
